Owned and created by Ryan Whitson, the studio at Spitfire is thoughtfully designed to be welcoming and inviting — giving our clients a comfortable experience, and our artists the opportunity to practice their craft in an inspired environment. The gallery is dedicated to exhibiting the best quality art Virginia has to offer, and draws collectors from around the region. It is a modern yet relaxed space, and we invite you to enjoy.

Spitfire
Ryan’s love of history and old fighter planes inspired the theme of the studio.
While the first recorded nose art was a sea monster created by an Italian pilot in 1913, the first shark insignia itself was recorded on a British plane during WWI. What is widely considered the golden age of nose art, WWII saw artists in high demand to create a wide variety of works on planes.
Throughout the shop you will see celebrated the Supermarine Spitfire, which was key in the Battle of Britain against the Nazi regime.
